Looks like the ridgewood venue silent barn was robbed and $15,000 worth of gear was stolen. That’s too bad, I had a lot of fun there and saw a lot of great shows that they put on while I was living in new york.
help them out.
Silent Barn now has a Kickstarter page raising money for reconstruction; check it out here.
Queens venue Silent Barn has played a big part in the DIY explosion in the New York music scene over the past few years. Unfortunately, it has fallen on hard times. A note on the venue’s Facebook page posted late last night announced that Silent Barn had been robbed over this past weekend, with over $15,000 worth of audio equipment, “house projects,” and personal belongings taken from the space.
There was significant damage done as well: “Doors were ripped off of hinges, furniture ripped to shreds, and everything in the space strewn about in a sea of debris.” The note continued, “We’ve lost 7 years worth of accumulated equipment, tools, and artwork donated and built by individuals from every end of the scene’s spectrum, and we’re still reeling with what this means for our own lives and the future of the space.”
If you want to find out how you can help the venue “to continue,” the note asks that you email firstname.lastname@example.org comments powered by Disqus
